The Amani Leo Campaign was launched in 2017 under the Peer To Peer Global competition supported by Facebook to counter online Hate Speech and any form of radicalization. I have since been entrusted to implement this initiative by UMYDF the main beneficiary to mainly target Youth at risk especially refugees using creative arts as a tool of rehabilitation.

The huge influx of refugees from Burundi, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Eritrea has put a huge strain on the social and economic well being of Uganda. It is estimated that over 2 million people have fled violence into Uganda in less than two years. With the country's young people struggling to find employment and now having to compete with the youth from other countries, hate and violence between these two groups is brewing underneath the surface. The radicals and human traffickers are utilizing this gap and this is why Amani Leo exists.
It all started as a channel when an online singing competition came down to two finalists. Grace from Uganda and Ben Terarac a refugee from Congo. They both collaborated on a song that became the anthem of the campaign which is currently rallying young people to establish what they have in common and move towards realizing dreams.
This is one of the reason I am establishing an artist co working space to continue building on this wave.
