I greet you all that have taken time to sneak into my journey becoming a significant part of it in both color and words. Time does really fly and keeping up with the speed is never easy. Remaining thankful to whats available is key for sure. I have answered confidently on number of occasions of where i see my art going or what i would like to achieve with it. Indeed i have set such high standards for myself that have taken me places both good and bad. My dream is to run a gallery and after my University it grew to much more that just that.
Structuring a vision was my last post and keeps flowing into this and a few to come. Now that the stakes are a little higher than before considering how much time has passed, i have learnt that it is one thing saying it and another doing it. I feel the relationship between these two is rather fascinating. One side you have a spoken word whose power cannot be underestimated regardless of how hard it is. On the other hand you have the practical side which is rather hard.
I am blessed to have the passion and have realized that time is such a resource that should not be underestimated. I did mention the need for artists to come on board. Yes they are supposed to be on board to get 2012 into perspective while looking forward to 2013. I did indeed interview some artists a few weeks ago and was impressed by their response to the idea of working together as a team. Of the four, one was retained at the gallery to have a closer look and get to know him. Long story short i have come to discover or better still i have been reminded of myself trying to find my feet in the Art world. His attitude despite the talent, has rubbed off and watered down most of the expectations we all at the Creations had for him. His excuses of missing important projects has become a norm and come in packages as it really rained and i could not make it. Well the last project at the American embassy last Friday was the last straw. He is now on a week long suspension from the gallery to aid is thought line on what he really wants.
I am always on the look out for the right people to work with and they do not have to be perfect. We just have to share a passion for work and making a difference and clearly that has turned out to be the most stunning test. I am blessed to have Reagan the framer and administrator of the gallery. The company is finding it's wings little by little with the board of directors taking shape. The pending inclusion of three more to make a five member board is timely.
Yes it is hard to recognize disappointments as a step towards a specific direction. Challenges can easily be classified as a step back or no go area. But clearly here at the creations, yes we need money humanly speaking. But with more people coming on board with new ideas and shared passion, it will only take us into the right direction. We intend to open our selves up to reveal our best qualities in hope that whatever opportunity comes our way, there are enough spaces to absorb and utilize for the best of many around us and our country.
Hope this causes you to share with a friend and to be inspired. Till next time le
